Void filling and soil stabilization using polyurethane resins involves injecting the expandable resin material into the ground to fill in voids or spaces and stabilize the soil. This process is commonly used in the construction industry to improve the stability and strength of soil, particularly in areas where the soil is prone to settling or where the weight of structures or buildings needs to be supported.
One advantage of using polyurethane resins for void filling and soil stabilization is that they can be injected into the ground through small holes, making the process quick and non-invasive. They also cure quickly and are very strong and durable, making them effective at supporting heavy loads. Our product supports a minimum of 10,000 lbs. per square foot of load and expands up to 30 times its original volume.
The Magic Poly Solutions process of void filling and soil stabilization with polyurethane resins begins by driving small pipe into the ground at the location where the resin is to be injected. The holes are spaced about a foot apart and are typically about the diameter of a pencil.
Next, the resin material is mixed (if necessary) and injected into the holes through the pipes using a specialized injection system. The resin material is usually (but not always) a two-part system that consists of a polymer and a foaming agent. When the two parts are mixed, they expand and harden, filling in any voids and stabilizing the soil as they do so.
The resin material is allowed to cure for a set amount of time, after which the soil can be used as normal. The length of time required for the resin to cure will depend on the specific product being used and the conditions under which it is applied - typically 15 minutes.
Overall, using polyurethane resins for void filling and soil stabilization is a quick, environmentally safe (our product meets the ANSI 61 Standard), effective, and durable way to improve the stability and strength of soil in a variety of applications.
